Speech Therapy in Riverhead, NY
Our Riverhead office is on Old Country Road. We see kids and adults from Riverhead and across the North Fork, and most families are 20 minutes away or less. You might have a toddler who isn't talking much yet, a second grader still working on the R sound, or a parent relearning words after a stroke. In each case you'll sit down with a licensed speech-language pathologist who will tell you plainly what's going on and what to do about it.

Pediatric & Adult Speech Therapy in Riverhead
For kids
We see children from toddlers through teenagers. Some are late talkers who aren't using many words yet. Others are in school and still mixing up sounds, having trouble following directions, or struggling to get their thoughts out. We also work with kids on the autism spectrum, kids with auditory processing difficulties, and kids for whom mealtimes are hard because of feeding issues.
For adults
Adults come to us for voice therapy and for help with speech and language after a stroke or other medical change.
Not sure whether what you're noticing is worth a visit? That's what the free consultation is for. If getting to the office is hard some weeks, sessions are also available online.

Why Choose Speech Therapy For All in Riverhead?
We have feeding therapists. Not many practices on the East End do. If your child's speech is fine but meals are a daily struggle, we can help with that too, and often in the same place.
The first consultation is free. You can ask questions and get a professional opinion before you commit to anything. If we don't think your child needs therapy, we'll tell you.
You'll know what we're working on. After sessions we tell you what we did and give you a few simple things to practice at home. Progress happens much faster when practice continues between visits.
It's local. If you're in Riverhead, Aquebogue or Calverton, you're not driving up the island for appointments. If you're on the South Fork, our Southampton office is another option.
We see kids and adults. Families sometimes start with one child and come back for a sibling or a grandparent. It helps to already know the office and the people in it.
Serving Riverhead & Surrounding East End Communities
The Riverhead office is at the base of both forks, so a lot of families find it the easiest to reach. On the North Fork we see families from Aquebogue, Jamesport, Laurel, Mattituck, Cutchogue and Southold. To the west, families come from Calverton, Wading River, Baiting Hollow and Manorville.
From the other side of the Peconic River we see families in Flanders, Riverside and Northampton. If Hampton Bays or Southampton is closer for you, our Southampton office may be the better fit, and we're happy to point you there.

-Ashish M., 2025
“We have been taking my 6 year old son here for 6 months. He has Miss Ava and we have been so pleased with her teaching. She is very knowledgeable and thorough in her explanation of what she is working on each visit. He had been with many other speech teachers from school and other programs and we have never seen as much of a difference as since we started seeing her. She had made many helpful suggestions of other providers we should visit as well. She takes a holistic approach and has brought to our attention a tongue tie that should be corrected. This is after seeing and asking other therapists and doctors. We went to the top doc on LI for this: Dr. Segal and he felt it was also a tongue tie that should be corrected with laser. Since having that done, my son can now physically get his tongue into the correct position to say the sounds they are working on. If you are looking for speech therapy, I would highly recommend Speech Therapy for All, and if you are in Riverhead, we’ve had great experience with Miss Ava.”

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. Our Riverhead office on Old Country Road sees kids from toddlers through teenagers. We work on late talking, sounds that are hard to say, language delays, autism-related communication, auditory processing and feeding.
-
Yes. We have specialized feeding therapists who work with kids who are extremely picky, gag on new textures, or have trouble chewing or swallowing. If mealtimes are a fight every night, bring it up at your free consultation. We’ll ask a few questions and tell you whether a feeding evaluation makes sense.
-
Most of the time, yes. We accept Fidelis, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, EmblemHealth (GHI/HIP), Humana, Magnacare, Medicare, NYSHIP, TRICARE, UMR and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies from plan to plan, so we’ll check your benefits before your first visit and tell you what to expect.
-
No. You can call us directly to get started. We’ll do a comprehensive evaluation to find out what’s going on and whether therapy is the right next step.
-
It’s a conversation. You tell us what you’ve noticed, we ask questions about your child’s speech, language and eating, and we give you our honest take. If it looks like something worth digging into, the next step is a full evaluation. If it doesn’t, we’ll tell you that too.
-
Yes. We have after-school times at our Riverhead office, so your child doesn’t have to miss class for therapy.
-
Yes. Telehealth sessions are available if getting to the office doesn’t work some weeks, or if online is simply a better fit for your family. Many kids do well online, and we can talk through whether it makes sense for your child.
-
Families come to our Riverhead office from Aquebogue, Jamesport, Mattituck, Southold, Calverton, Wading River, Manorville, Flanders, Riverside and other towns on the East End. If you’re closer to the South Fork, our Southampton office might be easier to get to.
-
There’s no single cutoff, but here’s a rough guide. By 18 months, most kids are using a handful of words. By age 2, most are putting two words together, like “more milk.” By 3, people outside the family should understand most of what they say. If your child is behind on these, or you just have a feeling something’s off, it’s worth getting checked. A free consultation is an easy way to find out.
-
Common signs include:
Not saying many words for their age
Being hard for others to understand
Getting frustrated when trying to communicate
Trouble following simple directions
Still mixing up sounds after their friends have stopped
The only way to know for sure is an evaluation. That’s what we’re here for.
-
Some kids do catch up on their own, but there’s no reliable way to tell ahead of time which ones will. Waiting and seeing can mean losing months when progress usually comes fastest. An evaluation tells you where your child actually stands, so you’re not left guessing.
-
It depends on the child and what they’re working on. Most kids come once or twice a week. Some need a few months, and others need longer. We’ll give you a realistic idea after the evaluation and keep you updated as things move along.
-
Yes, and we encourage it. Seeing what we work on makes it much easier to practice at home, and that practice between sessions is a big part of what helps kids make progress.
